Have you received a brand new heart
As Saul did long ago?
Then did you hide it in your breast
That others would not know?

Or have you shown it bright and clear,
Like lamp upon a hill,
Revealing light for all to see
You’re following God’s will?

Is it found like a candle’s light
That waivers in the wind,
Yet still holds on through storms that come
With help that God will send?

Saul’s light was dimmed because he sinned,
His new heart, did he hide.
God’s Spirit left him all alone.
His pride He’d not abide.

Your new heart came at greatest cost
When Jesus came to save.
He purchased it with His own life
Which on the cross He gave.

So let your light be clearly seen,
Like lamp or candle, bright,
Your heart for God be visible
In day and darkest night.

(1 Samuel 10:9)
