Stretching out forever,
Light-years and more light-years
Of starry, starry heavens.
And intricate and complex
Are the tiny things,
Iridescent beetles,
Velvet butterfly wings.
And yet ...
And yet I hear a chorus
Of voices with a stance
That everything both big and small
Is just produced by chance.
They say they have no faith;
They say there's no divine,
Yet, strangely, they do have belief;
They draw a trusting line,
That there is no Creator,
That there's no Master Plan.
They trust that there's no greater God
Than can be found in man.
Believing all just chanced to be,
And 'knowing' that they're right,
There is no supernatural,
Their case is watertight.
They marvel at Earth's grandeur,
Yet staunchly they persist
In having faith in knowing
That God does not exist.
And yet ...
And yet, it is ironic
Their certainty of mind
That there is no Creator God
Beyond our humankind.
For God looks down and loves them,
He doesn't turn away,
He waits to be acknowledged,
He waits for them to say
I believe in You.
