TITLE: Skilled at Being Adept | Previous Challenge Entry

That I was quite adept
At getting out of any work.
That, she, would not accept.
I figured, after dinner,
To practice on piano.
Thus, washing dishes, I’d escape,
But Mama figured, too, though.
When Mama sent me to my room,
She said to make my bed.
I’d lie upon it for awhile
And read a book, instead.
Since dusting seemed a waste of time,
I’d often hurry through it,
But Mama, a perfectionist,
Would charge me to redo it.
Then, as I grew and I matured,
I found it made more sense
To take some pride in what I did.
New skills, did I commence.
When work was then assigned to me,
I would not shirk my task,
But do my best to find success
For all my mom would ask.
And then when I became a mom,
With children quite adept
At getting out of any work,
That, I, would not accept.
