I went to find my dad.
I knew that he’d have time for me
Because he always had.
I found him sitting on the porch
In his old rocking chair.
He leaned and scooped me to his lap
And got me settled there.
He rocked me quietly a bit,
Then asked what was wrong.
I told him something bothered me,
Confused me all day long.
“I know that God knows everything,
But I can’t seem to see,
While God is everywhere at once,
How did He come to be?”
He told me God had always been,
Forever He would be,
And when we died, we’d be with Him
Through all eternity.
I didn’t understand it all,
But neither did I need to.
Because my dad knew everything,
I knew that it was true.
And I have always been assured
Through this security
That God is with me presently,
And He will always be.
