From someone who’s a friend,
Do not allow a falling out
Your friendship’s ties to end.
Be sure to keep her secrets close
That she has shared with you.
Don’t spread complaints of her to folks
And make a big to-do.
Don’t utter unkind words to her
You never can retrieve.
They’re like a garment all stitched up
Which you cannot unweave.
If she might speak mistruths of you
Or of your family,
Don’t let your anger “get your goat”
And cause calamity.
Then if you wish to slap her, as
They say, “Upside the head,”
Just push that evil thought away
And pray for her instead.
And if she says she’s sorry for
The way she’s treated you,
Forgive her freely from the heart.
Ask her forgiveness, too.
You may not always think alike,
Which differences bring,
But God provides the harmony,
That you together sing.
