A True Friend
If she sees me sin, of sin she and I we’d not approve,
Or if she sees me follow a path others go we’d reprove.
She’d hone me right,
I will not fight.
I’d amend my ways in faith and love.
A true friend rebukes me of any fraud.
Between the two of us, and All-Present God.
Firm and sweet,
Gentle in spirit.
Tell me now, my truest friend, and I’d take your grindstone.
How good it is when you and I walk the path straight.
A true friend helps me shine, past sins not narrate nor berate.
Where we both are,
In truth and character,
Refining, polishing, strengthening closer walk in faith.
My true friend and I are not strangers to each other.
When sad and alone, we put our heads together.
She sees me,
And I get her.
A true friend sticks by, gains a smile closer than a sister or brother.
The word of God is sharper for our instruction,
than any two-edged sword of anyone’s opinion.
A true friend
Forges like diamond,
Propels to truth, realigns, hones in God’s direction.
Soothing are the words of a true friend.
Truth polishes this worthy friendship
Of inestimable beauty
in kindness,
faithfulness,
grace and godliness.
Tried and true-- O, is this woman I want to be around
This true friend.
