ADD TO MY FAVORITES
Make glad a saddened heart
To show God’s comfort and His love,
And name that as your art?
Would you choose not to criticize,
To ridicule or shame,
Instead, to speak the truth in love
In Jesus’ holy name?
Would you be true to your dear friends,
Hold them accountable,
Direct them, when they’ve lost their way,
To One who’s merciful?
Would you keep secrets your friends share,
Their privacy secure,
So they know they can trust in you,
Because your word is sure?
Would you be counted on for help
When friends are found in trouble,
And they know when they send for you,
You’ll be there on the double?
Would you be one to understand
Your fellow-Christians’ needs,
And after doing what you can,
God’s favor, intercede?
Then when your friends admonish you,
For some wrong you have done,
You’ll be aware iron sharpens iron,
The same for everyone.
