"Piece of cake," the technician said. I didn't believe their story of how easy it would be to assemble my new router. Put this cable here, that one there, and plug it into the wall. So. I did what they told me, but then there was more, and I felt I had to manage the entire cake, not just a piece. Oh, and the password: which one?

I spent several hours on this project and was irritated by my lack of results. My everyday peace was nowhere to be found. Why did I let it disturb me so much? I was mad at the technician, the router, and mostly myself. I finally figured out the correct password and changed it so I would never forget it, right? With that, the internet was finally connected, but it was only one piece of the cake.

My frustration and forfeited peace made everything worse. I had to get away from it, so I went to bed and fell asleep from sheer mental exhaustion.

The next day I had to get another piece of cake and connect the TV to the new internet service. Refreshed by a night of sleep, I tackled the job with a measure of my peace restored. The issue here was the password again. Now, what was the password I chose? I knew it was somewhere in my brain, so I asked God to show me what it was. Miraculously, of course, He did! Consequently, this part of the connection really was a piece of cake.

My reaction to a mundane problem caused much stress in my body and soul. I was unnerved by my tendency to go with the world's way of thinking. Why did I allow it? I should have asked the Lord to help me before I began this project, but I waited until after I had tried everything else. It truly was my choice.

Herein is the story's moral and reprimand to me: Pray first, then start the endeavor.

" casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you." I Peter 5:7 NKJV

Indeed, He knows everything and will help us if we ask! In so doing, the piece of cake can never disturb our peace of mind.
