I had another odd dream last night. I had been wrestling with some difficult decisions and fell asleep watching a call-in advice show. And as I fell asleep, the female host morphed into...who? An Egyptian looking woman and at the bottom of the screen I see her name, Zuleikha, wife of Potiphar.
WOMAN REMOVES THE ROBE REVEALING AN EGYPTIAN STYLE DRESS UNDERNEATH
“Hello caller,(PURRS WITH SEXY VOICE) I’m glad you called in. I was getting a little bored here, nothing to look at except the male assistants and they just ignore me. The nerve. Who do they think they are—Joseph?
Mmm, that was just a promising relief of my boredom. Who knew he would be such a (STRUGGLES FOR WORDS) I believe you call it “a goody two shoes” although in Joseph’s case, that would be a “goody two sandals.” (CHUCKLES AT HER OWN JOKE) I wasn’t wanting to KEEP Joseph just to BORROW him..
You say you are struggling with boredom. Do you have a gardener, a mechanic? After all you are paying them...
WOMAN PUTS THE ROBE BACK ON
I wake up startled. The last person I wanted advice from would be Potiphar’s wife. I must admit, I have gotten a little bored with my current life and was looking into opportunities --- but not like that!!
I yawn and fall back asleep. The show host has now morphed into another Egyptian woman who is softer, younger with a light about her.
WOMAN REMOVES ROBE TO SHOW THE EGYPTIAN GARB AGAIN
Hello caller (SWEET WARM VOICE) I’m glad you called. You’re speaking with Asenath, wife of Joseph...You say there are some people at work who are doing things that you know are wrong and they keep urging you not to be such a (STRUGGLES WITH UNFAMILIAR WORD ) spoilsport and that everybody does it? They want you to come “on board?” (SAYING THE UNFAMILIAR PHRASE SLOWLY).
You’ve afraid you might lose your job. Ah, my Joseph had such a dilemma. He wasn’t my Joseph at the time, but in my heart, I hoped that someday he would be. He was so good looking, not just in the face but in the heart. He never gave in to Potiphar’s wife. I admired him so much for that. My heart ached for him when he was so unjustly thrown into prison.
And look where my Joseph wound up, second only to Pharoah. Don’t give up. Don’t give in. When God is with you, you always win.’
WOMAN PUTS ROBE BACK ON
I wake up again, startled but determined. I knew what I needed to do. I would not let impure entertainment pollute my soul or let boredom suck me into the wrong crowd, or let fear for my job frighten me into compromise. I’ll never be on board with their plans for I'm already on board with God.
When I’m on board with God
I’ll never be bored
For He is my strong rod
He is my sweet Lord
I’ll never give up
I’ll never give in
God is on my side
Together we win.
