So many rough patches I just don’t like
The stress
The pain
The mess
The strain
on all of my resources
Where are all my sources
for strength along this hike
My breath is straining
as I try regaining
my composure
I want to worship
Want to praise
Lift up my voice
in boisterous praise
But the hike has taken my breath
the weariness has reached such a depth
I need to catch my breath
Dig wide and deep into the depth
Of all You are
You are my hope
my sustenance
My rope
I cling to on this journey
When the exertion brings upon me pain
I know that I am about to gain
strength in my Christian walk
Even though I’m so prone to balk
at the challenges of this hike
At the end of this hike
there’s a glorious view
But I finally realize the best part of this hike
was the time spent walking with You
