My definition of the word final has changed.
I now understand there is no end, only bridges to the next phase
As it was in the beginning and ever shall be…
Each life passage is a link to happy, sad, or surprising adventures.
First, we crawl and then we walk and sometimes we even dance.
Often, we are reluctant to turn loose to follow God’s voice
Especially when those scary spans stretch across troubled waters.
In our eventual retrospect, such caution will seem a little silly
When we realize He was there all the time!
Our bridges were covered for protection by armies of angels
And some simply were safe little logs across a trickling stream.
Some of mine have been long and suspended
As I wobbled on planks over the River Why believing
And reaching and praying for the better part ahead
But always moving, sometimes to the edge and back.
As we stroll together for these last few steps to Eternity
I do not hear the mournful echo of a weeping cello
To accompany useless regret, nor am I shrouded in fear or grief
While wishing I had known what I did not know.
Soon, as we get near to the last cross to the home where we began,
One of us will finally bridge the gap from earth to Heaven
And be drawn to join the joyful, glorious, all-encompassing praise
While the other waves a temporary farewell from the comforting mist of faith
And waits for the invitation to follow at the appointed time
To a forgiven Believer’s promised World without end—Amen, Amen.

Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8 NLT
1 For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.
2 A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest.
3 A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to build up.
4 A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance.
5 A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones. A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
6 A time to search and a time to quit searching. A time to keep and a time to throw away.
7 A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
8 A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace.
