About how folks should act
Who follow in the Lord’s footsteps,
And that’s a proven fact.
The things we do reflect upon
The name of Christ we bear.
The route to heaven that God gave
Had guides to get us there.
The rules for living righteously
Were given from above:
To put off anger every time—
Instead, to put on love.
To live with truth and righteousness
And with humility,
To think about things that are good,
Things that are right and lovely.
To honor Him above all else
Without idolatry,
To speak with language that is pure
And with no blasphemy.
Show kindness and forgiveness
And help a fallen brother.
Rejoice and praise God always,
Encouraging each other.
Be anxious not for anything,
Just trusting in the One,
And ready for that day to come
When life on earth is done.
