but that’s just what He bids us to do,
and even greater things than He,
if we’ve the faith to follow through.
Compassion and love His trademark,
freely given to mankind at great cost,
He tells us to use those same emotions,
to reach the needy, unloved and the lost.
To have the message of His salvation,
presented to each and every heart,
is what He commanded His followers
to do, in action, from the very start.
Lamb of God-Son of Man, innocent,
sacrificed - to an unimaginable degree,
leaving His Heavenly home, tasting death,
to set the earthly captives of sin free.
Imitating Jesus, seems impossible at best,
but we owe it to Him, to do what we can,
to act on His word and reach out to be,
representatives of His love and eternal plan.
Kindness is sorely lacking, in society today,
selfishness and greed, so rampantly displayed,
the opposite of how Jesus would have people be.
Maybe the church’s inaction needs to be weighed?
Everyone will answer for every word and deed,
done or left undone - every action does matter,
going forth to build someone’s hope or to shatter,
as our vibes hit others, like emotional splatter!
Jesus was a servant, to those He created,
the unfairness of that is so understated,
yet we gripe and complain, often frustrated,
with our need to serve others, often debated.
Enticements of this world are many,
a smorgasbord of sin, to act on everyday!
Every social platform, offers a way,
to shade the purity of God’s word with gray.
Such need, for us to act in a way that displays,
the truth of God’s word, to combat sin’s sway,
tell who ever will listen, the bible’s relevant today,
and sin is still sin, no matter what others may say.
Unwrap your words of witness, from within
your passion for Christ – show them Him,
by showing them, you care about their life,
and humbly tell, without Him, their way's very grim!
So yes, Jesus is a hard act to follow,
but that’s just what He bids us to do,
to be more like him, only comes one way,
and that’s by an act of commitment from you!
