(WOMAN POINTS AN IPHONE ON A TRIPOD TOWARD HERSELF. SHE HAS A BLAZER ON. SHE CLEARS HER THROAT AND BEGINS.)

Hi Sara, I hope you didn’t faint when you opened this email and saw the attachment was this video. Yes, it’s really your mother sending or at least attempting to send you my very first video.

Hope I didn’t do everything upside down but if I did it might be appropriate because I’m about to tell you of a time where I felt upside down.

I’ve never had the courage to tell you this story to your face so on this very special occasion I thought I might show you what it was like the day that I was a scared eighteen-year with an impossible decision to make.

I’ve tested three times. I can’t deny it any longer. I’m pregnant. This is not supposed to happen. I am a MINISTER’S daughter! My father will be disgraced, will they make him resign? My mother will be ashamed to show her face at her ladies’ group.

I’m supposed to go to college. My boyfriend is supposed to go to college. He wants to take me to the clinic.

It would be so simple, no one would ever even know that I had been pregnant. At least almost no one. It’s not even a baby, is it? I try to forget about being taught how John the Baptist, still in Elizabeth’s womb, leaped for joy when Mary, barely pregnant with Jesus, walked in the door. No one will be leaping for joy over this baby. What would be the honorable thing to do?

I can’t decide! Dad always says “If you can’t decide what to do, go to God’s word.” Where did I leave off reading? (PICKS UP BIBLE AND READS)

Exodus 1:15: “The king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, whose names were Shiphrah and Puah, “When you are helping the Hebrew women during childbirth on the delivery stool, if you see that the baby is a boy, kill him; but if it is a girl, let her live.”

Those Hebrew midwives had a hard decision to make too. I wonder what it would have been like to be Puah.

(WOMAN TAKES TABLECLOTH OFF SIDETABLE AND USES IT AS A HEADDRESS)

Pharoah wants us to MURDER male babies? We are midwives, we bring life, we don’t end it. But will saving their lives end ours? Pharoah doesn’t like to be crossed. But our profession and our faith leave us no choice. I know the honorable thing to do, and that’s what we did.

We killed no babies. But the day came when we were summoned before Pharoah. His face was beet red with fury. I swallow and send up a quick prayer that Pharoah will believe our story. Shiprah and I had decided that I would speak for the two of us.

“Oh your majesty, these Hebrew women are not like Egyptian women. They give birth before we can even get there.”

I grab Shiprah’s hand and we hold our breath. Is he believing it? Our heartbeat thunder In our ears, the silence is so loud. Are these our final heartbeats?

Finally, Pharoah dismisses us with a wave of his hand! He’s accepting our story! Praise Jehovah. Since our own wombs continue to be empty at least we’ve put male babies into loving arms.

(THE WOMAN REMOVES THE HEADDRESS), The honorable thing is to always support the babies. What does the Bible say happened to the midwives? “And God rewarded them with their own families.”

These midwives did the honorable thing despite the dangers to their lives and God rewarded them by making their dreams come true. Right now, it seems my dreams are in danger, but God, I know the honorable thing to do today. And You will be my reward. I leave my life in your hands. I WILL keep this child.

WOMAN PUTS BLAZER BACK ON. And God did reward me, my precious Sara. YOU are my reward. And if my reward wasn’t great enough, you left me a message saying that I am not only a blessed beyond measure mother, but you are about to make me a blessed beyond measure grandmother.

I love you so much, Sara. I came so close to never having you. Thank God, He helped me make the right decision.

Sometimes decisions are very difficult to make, especially when we have brought upon ourselves the consequences forcing the decision. If this is non-fiction, then you know you would never have been able to live with yourself had you aborted your baby.
Well-written story about the power of God's Word and about doing the right thing. As the saying goes, "Two wrongs don't make a right."

Wow, I have chills and tears after reading this incredibly masterfully written story. It was so powerful, and provided such a strong important message.
