That an appendix wanted out
Or babies couldn’t wait
Shoes were pinching, not to mention
It could be something that we ate
Without alarms those fractured arms
Would throb and not heal right
When heads that ache keep us awake
With no relief in sight
The stab to hearts and other parts
Would never be amended
If no alert to cause some hurt
Left us sick and unattended
How could we prepare if unaware
Of stings and built-in signs?
Those God-installed body calls
Of the flesh and of the mind
What would make us stop and think
Before we sink to depths above our heads
And take the steps to fix a thing, instead
Of flailing on the brink
To pay some heed to what we need
Is part of body, soul, and spirit
We can’t deny bells notify
Or say we simply didn’t hear it
Twinge and hurts are our alerts
To re-adjust that off-key chord
Re-boot and pay attention to our power source
And help us truly listen to the Lord!
So, don’t ignore what’s red or sore
Or pretend it isn’t there
We’re made to hear and heed our every need
To be aware, and then prepare
Broken hearts and grief that stabs
When abandoned or betrayed
Can leave us weak and lost off course
To mourn the cost and leaving us afraid
But Jesus promised comfort when we face it
And a way to cope when life evokes such stressing
If we give it ALL to Him to soothe and heal
In the end, we’re told, we’ll reap a perfect blessing!
