Avoiding Brussel sprout,
And liver served in any form,
I gladly do without.
It’s chocolate that calls my name
In clear and strident voice,
And if I don’t restrain myself,
It’s always my first choice.
For getting too much exercise,
I find there’s nothing to it.
I do not have a single urge
That makes me want to do it.
But settling back with a good book,
Now that’s what I call fun,
But if I stay at it too long,
My work will not get done.
To sit and write out all the bills
Is not a big temptation,
But sitting down to write some poems—
Another situation.
To do things I do not enjoy
Requires some restraint,
And skipping duties that are mine
Is sure to bring complaint.
And when I've need for self-control,
For anything that’s evil,
I go in prayer to Him who cares.
To help me, He is able.
