The lonely ones?
It’s hard to tell sometimes
They aren’t always easy to spot
It’s necessary to look in their eyes
But if you cover your face with your hands
Your head may as well be buried in sand
Quit playing the Ostrich
Jesus always took the time
To look each person in the eyes
He was never afraid to touch
To listen, to hold, to love
He fed the hungry, visited his friends
Blessed the children, healed the broken
Taught his followers to do the same
Are you His disciple? This isn’t a game
Quit playing the Ostrich
Do you hear them?
The broken hearted?
It’s hard to tell sometimes
They aren’t always easy to spot
It’s necessary to quit talking and actually listen
But if you cover your ears with your hands
Your head may as well be buried in sand
Quit playing the Ostrich
Kindness isn’t an intangible act
It requires the sweat off your back
You can’t be kind while hiding away
It’s not kindness until it’s given away
The world needs Jesus back on the streets
It’s you He’s calling to follow His lead
His spirit is willing to strengthen your heart
Are you His disciple? Will you play your part?
Quit playing the Ostrich
