as it’s a sharing from inside,
display of heartfelt care
when you put yourself aside.
It sometimes means…
To share a smile, thought,
a story or experience
with someone who’s distraught.
To stay connected and reach out
especially to someone who
may be alone, left out.
To show some gentleness
to someone who is down in life,
feels only helplessness.
It sometimes means…
To show some hospitality,
for anyone appreciates
some simple cordiality.
To show compassion for the one
who feels alone, depressed,
whose life has come undone.
To show some empathy
to someone in the midst
of life’s calamity.
It sometimes means…
To listen to a friend
whose life is upside down
whose troubles seem to have no end.
To donate money, things,
for anyone can fall upon
hard times and broken dreams.
To those who can’t keep up or do the same,
be patient, offer reassurance
that there’s no need for shame.
Kindness can mean many things
as it’s a sharing from inside,
display of heartfelt care
when you put yourself aside.
