I’ll leave behind a trail of mud
Heartbreak mixed with tears
Then as I pass the thin blue line
My spirit will shout
And though my lungs be full
No sound shall pass
It’s Joy Unspeakable
When I escape this dry red clay
I’ll sneak through a tiny crack
A mortal soul wound gaping
Then as I rise up through the dark
My spirit will shout
And though my lips be parted
No sound shall pass
It’s Joy Unspeakable
When I wither like a blade of grass
I’ll slip off the feeble self
Ishmael finally evaporating
Then as I disrobe the chrysalis
My spirit will shout
And though my tongue be ready
No sound shall pass
It’s Joy Unspeakable
When I release mortality
I’ll lay me on the altar
A wood hay stubble inferno stench
But as a Phoenix wings erect
My spirit will shout
And though my voice is willing
No sound shall pass
It’s Joy Unspeakable
