Where the Roman spear was thrust;
Lamb of God led to the slaughter
In submission to His Father
Will ever bear the scar for us.
Lifeblood shed, His body broken,
Hanging lifeless on the tree,
Water is a sure foretoken
Of a promise He had spoken—
New life outflows to you and me.
From a wellspring clear and brimming
In the hearts now washed and clean
From a light that’s never dimming
In a soul that’s ever singing
Flows forth the praise of His redeemed.
By His Spirit’s power streaming
Bubbling in each ransomed soul
From His word, rich treasures gleaning,
Hearts and souls with His life beaming—
Our names inscribed in Heaven’s roll.
We’ve a promise guaranteed us
Of His everlasting rest
Where we know our Lord will lead us
And though our enemies impede us
None can negate the Lord’s bequest.
One day soon in Rapture’s glory
Caught up with His ransomed Bride!
Promised hope I have before me!
My spirit bows—Holy, Holy!—
A spotless Bride from His pierced side.
