If you want some attention.
You may get more than bargained for
Of unkind words and then some!
Pound on piano like a kid,
On keyboard like a writer,
But never pound on anyone,
As if you’re some prize fighter.
Pound with a hammer, nail to wall,
But watch out for your finger.
If you hit it, instead of nail,
You’ll get more than a stinger.
Do not pound people to the ground,
Like football players do.
You might be sorrier, indeed,
When they get hold of you.
Pound on the pavement as you go
To seek rewarding work,
Then striving to achieve success
With job that you won’t shirk.
Pound facts you need into your head
Through constant repetition,
So with recall, they’ll all be there
To guide you through your mission.
Don’t waste your time on pounding sand.
Build projects that will stay,
Instead of trivialities
For tide to wash away.
