But no wispy fluttery butterflies
Whose lovely doll images
Balance atop yuletide trees
As if holding court over holiday traditions
Nor candy-cane sweet with yellow hair
Dressed in fluffy gowns as if going to a ball
Pale and fragile ladies adorned with feathers
Or pudgy cherub-faced babies expressed on canvas
Despite movie myths, neither are they
Spirits in training who must pass tests
And bells will tinkle when wings are awarded
Charming to consider, but again, not so!
Neither are they expired people in transition
Charged to watch over loved ones still on earth
In some unbiblical made-up rendition to
Satisfy a hungry soul’s yearning for the truth
Scripture makes it clear God created Angels
As agents and messengers at the ready to assist
Even be in disguise when needed here or
Praising with the heavenly hosts extolling Hallelujah
Strong and powerful and quick to respond
Soldiers, sharp and swift, massive in size and decked out
With swords and shields to obey and defend
Revelation players, fighters and protectors ‘til the end
Special Security Forces are real and, on the job,
Not figments of imaginations or mythological
Stories drawn from dreams, but giants at our calling
Always Admonishing us, “Do not fear!”
Yes, Virginia, there is an Army you cannot see
In natural light, but rather with spiritual eyes
Numbers more than you can count, all glorifying
Our Lord and praising His Holy Name!
