Then spring, in satin slippers, dances in.
She paints with palette of gorgeous greens
The daintiest of leaves on bare-limbed trees.
To cover once-white fields of snow,
She daubs in emerald blades of grass,
To which the early morning dew
Will then adorn with crystal beads.
She brushes new gold on winter-weary sun,
Extending brighter blue across the sky.
Through crusty soil, she brings forth bulbs
With vibrant red and purple blooms
And pink and lilac blossoms,
Along with flowers of every other hue,
To color the world anew
And scent the air with sweetness.
The birds sing joyful praises
For the beauty of the earth.
To children imprisoned behind closed doors, spring calls,
“Come outside now and dance with me.
We’ll waltz together, filled with glee.
From walled-in winter, we’ll be free.”
All artistry on spring’s amazing canvas
Appears by touch of God’s almighty hand.
