Was never satisfied,
Complaining he was shorter than
The ones he stood beside.
He wished that he had snow on top
Like those with peaks up high.
He wanted to be big like them
And closer to the sky.
One day an older mountain said,
“I’m tired of your whining.
I wish that you would be content
To see the sun is shining.
You’re blessed by sunshine and by rain
Just like the rest of us.
That you lack size and snow on top
Is no excuse to fuss.
Design for mountains that God made
As part of His creation
Brings beauty and protection, too,
Beyond imagination.
While bold men seek to reach my peak
Just to proclaim it done,
Then little children play on you
To shout and laugh with fun.”
The little mountain gave some thought
To all his elder said,
Deciding not to wish for change,
But satisfied, instead.
