I get confused a lot.
The things they used to say were “cool”
Were later labeled “hot.”
If William Shakespeare could return
And listen to some “lingo,”
He’d “prolly” recognize his thoughts.
He wouldn’t “dig” the change, though.
I think that “’Wassup’, Romeo?”
He wouldn’t like at all,
And “’Wussies’ ‘croak’ a ‘ton’ of times”
Would “drive him up a wall.”
I never hoped to be “da bomb,”
Nor would I be “da man,”
And if I’m told “to have a cow,”
There’s no way that I can.
The social niceties have changed,
“It’s all good and “my bad,”
While “Talk to the hand,” and “whatever,”
Just leave me feeling sad.
“Wolf down” or “pig out’s” not my style.
Just “chillin” when I’m cold.
I’m never “groovy,” neither “hip.”
I somehow got too old.
I hope this “ditty” brought you cheer—
“Like,” “dude,” “I’m outta here.”
