I find them quite exciting.
Of all that I can do with them,
My favorite is writing.
To be a writer competent
Requires me to read
And note good authors’ skill with words
To help me to succeed.
I see how writers set the stage
With sensory narration
For building interesting plot
And characterization.
And then as I begin to write,
I try to resurrect
The memories of past events
That I can recollect.
Recalling childhood happenings
And people of my past,
I put them in my poetry
So they’ll forever last.
I bring to mind the many sights,
That I’ve seen in my travels
And close my eyes to picture them
Until a scene unravels.
And when in Bible study times,
I bow my head in prayer,
Some inspiration fills my heart
Providing thoughts to share.
When I can’t draw on memory,
I’ve still imagination.
I choose from all those words I love
And make my own creation.
