To eat ice cream and cake.
You smear it on your little face,
And what a mess you make!
When you’re thirteen, you jump for joy
And frolic all about
When snow comes unexpectedly
And schools are all let out.
At twenty-three, you jump for joy
Since you are out of college.
You’re set as a world conqueror,
Now you’re a fount of knowledge.
At thirty-three, you jump for joy
To have a family,
With loving husband by your side
And children, two or three.
At forty-three, you jump for joy.
Career is going well.
Your children are successful, too,
As near as you can tell.
At fifty-three, you jump for joy
When grandkids come your way.
They are the smartest anywhere.
At least, that’s what you say.
At sixty-three, you jump for joy.
Retirement is near.
Your years of work are finished soon,
And time to rest is here.
At seventy and eighty-three,
A little jump you make,
And when the joy of nap is done,
Your joy’s ice cream and cake.
At ninety-three, you can recline,
Your days of jumping through.
You’ve lived accepting of God’s grace,
And heaven’s joy’s for you.
