Bending sturdy trees
To the ground
To bow in obeisance
Before its tremendous power.
Wild is the ocean squall,
Sending enormous waves
To carry along helpless sea life
And lash the defenseless coast
With vast amounts of brine.
Wild is the tornado,
With vortex rotating violently
As it rips through country and city
To create massive damage
On its unpredictable journey.
Wild is the thunderstorm,
With sheets of stinging rain
To pound drooping blossoms
Into the soggy ground
Beneath bright streaks of lightning.
Wild is the hurricane,
Roaring from sea to shore
To cause devastation
From flooding rains and wind
Before whimpering away.
Wild is the waterfall,
Cascading swiftly over steep incline,
Bruising rocks
Along its dizzying ride
To land at the bottom with vengeance.
As accompaniment to nature’s wildness
Is the prism of colors
In the arc of the rainbow
That circles the earth in beauty
With God’s holy promise.
