TITLE: Which Way? | Previous Challenge Entry

The sun in a half curtsey dips,
with bending knee bows down,
preparing for departure
in a blazing crimson gown,
topped by a golden crown.
The beautiful farewell is marred
by growing agitation.
Approaching darkness fuels my
increasing agitation
and fearful expectation.
No signpost, map or compass
and a mobile phone that’s dead;
an unknown isolated path
winds dangerously ahead:
I fear the path I tread.
An eerie stillness hovers
in the dusky failing light;
decision is demanded
in the shroud of coming night -
to take left turn or right?
Which way? The danger heightens,
so lost I cry ‘Which way’?
Then turning back to infant days
I kneel right down and say –
‘Lord guide me please’ I pray.
‘Which way’? My life unravels,
dishevelled and undone,
I’m standing at the crossroads
in far more ways than one…
and there, I meet the Son.
‘Which way’? I quietly whisper
‘Lord, come now, be my guide,
show me your onward pathway,
direct my measured stride
and keep me at your side.’
I hover at the crossroads,
of the two paths still aware.
I hear a distinct buzzing
from very close – somewhere,
disturbing the night air.
No signpost, map or compass
but a mobile phone – not dead!
a signal and a lighted screen,
and one-word text I read,
just ‘right’ is all it said!
And ‘right’ led back to safety,
‘right’ was the path to choose…
And I am left a’wondering
do even angels use
the mysteries of technology?
On this, I can, but muse.
