(Brrrrrrrr . . .)
"Someone's in the kitchen! Wake up everybody! Food' - wonderful food - glorious . . . "May I help? Can I eat? Forget the wastebasket - I'm here.now, and yes I will even eat those crackly eggshells and the bacon wrapper."
(Gimmee gimmee gimmee - now, now, now)
"Mom is so happy when I busily suck out her eyeballs and slather her awakening laughing face - oh how she loves me. I can get away with anything - until she brings out that nasty water bottle."
(Mom's a sucker for ear reaming and eyeball sucking)
"Dad won't get up - he loves electric blankets like me. I have ways. Hey Dad - play with me. Dad mumbles as I plop all forty pounds of pure good boy muscle on his belabored chest. That's a mighty big word for me, so I won't belabor the issue . . ."
(Pound humor)
"The ball, the BALL - how can you resist this wonderful bouncing ball? No? The knotted rope - surely you want to tug with me?"
(Whine - repeat)
"Breakfast - at last. I must ensure everyone is sitting in their proper places at the table. My real mama taught me how to make my eyes so wide and cute. Got bacon? It is such a chore, rushing everyone to stop eating and look at my huge eyes."
(Animal magnetism)
"My food dish is empty, come take a look-see. I need water right now. A dog's got to eat, for Lassie's sake."
(Wow and bow - same dry dog food)
"Play with me - throw my ball already. You've been awake for hours. I'm your pup and I demand exercise. Not now? Bellies too full? How about the squeaky hamburger?
(Phooey - I'll just sit and suck on the cat's cloth mouse until the filling comes out. I'll eat the stuffing)
"Hey anybody. Dog needs to do his duty. Run, open the door. Bummer, it's raining. I'll do it here on the back porch."
(My delicate paws do not like wet)
"Hey - it's raining. Let me in, hurry and let me in or I'll tear the door down."
(Idle threat - too much work)
"Here I am - ready for my nap. Excuse my shaking rain drops all over you guys. What? You won't let me under the covers? How do you expect me to dry off?"
(I have ways of getting under the warm fuzzy blankets)
"I'm awake - everybody up. Lunchtime. Hurry to the table so I can beg and beg and beg."
(I haven't even begun to beg)
"Playtime. You know the routine - ball, rope tug, cuddle. Cuddle, snuggle, lick, push you off the bed, steal the covers and I want you to rub my belly, now."
(It's a dog's life indeed)
"Now where did that crazy cat go?"
A true story, based upon my understanding of my barker's wants and needs. More to come . . .
