Lazy Mutt

There once was a notable boor
Who lived on his own with a cur;
That lazy old mutt wouldn’t stir
Even if provoked by a purr.

Now the flea-hound was soft and sure
With a pedigree far from pure;
The owner was slightly demure
A loner and quite immature.

An itch pushed the pup for a tour
Off his rug and out to the moor;
There he met a hound with allure
A slight female entrepreneur.

A tail wag and sniff of the fur
Raised his thought on what could endure;
His owner breathed out a bonjour
Honorable Madame de jure.

“I am Annabelle Amanpour
And I come from Kuala Lumpur;
If you’ve seen my ad and brochure
You know I am a haute couture.”

“Perhaps I am quite premature
To fall for your dog’s clear allure;
But why don’t we take a detour
And explore the banks of the moor.”

“I’m not sure if you need a cure
Or if your dog is a fine lure;
My poodle just followed his spoor
And now I am left quite unsure.”

“If you think my mutt is obscure
And he’s rated by old manure;
Then let me now you reassure
Our lasting love you won’t procure.”

“This old pain my heart will inure
But Fifi will never endure;
So let us both take the grand tour
And find about love on the moor.”

No longer a notable boor
Who lives on his own with a cur;
That lazy old mutt now does stir
Without waiting for bark or purr.

Now the fine hound is soft and sure
With a true love for one that’s pure;
The owner is never demure
No loner or less than mature.

So if plagued by an itchy fur
Get up and go out for a tour
Explore the whole depth of your moor;
Until God shows you his allure.
