Glacial kisses
Earth strains
Shouldering her entombing burden
Days wither
Dwindling into a long and dark night
Ground like hardened stones
Frozen bones
Seized by savage fetters
Beneath hunched and hoary drifts
Unyielding
Raising skeletal fingers
Trees in silent supplication
Claw at grayed and empty skies
For respite
Crushed and broken
Fragments of frail and faded flowers
Ghostly memories tossed aloft
Unremembered
Groaning its ruthless lament
The wind grovels
Insinuating itself into rifts
Numbing the spirit
No beacon on the bleak horizon
Consuming cold
Barrenness desolation abandonment
Unmerciful
A gentle and persuading breath
A zephyr gathers strength
Whispering warmth
The icy cloak cowers
Retreating
Recanting its dirge
Of despair
Of doubt
Droplets merge
Meandering rivulets
Cascading into confidence
A fierce and wild tide
Unrestrained
Shadows dispelled
By a persistent promise
Of renewal
Of resurrection
Ragged wisps of doubt spin away
Like whirling moths taking flight
Winging into radiance
Luminous
Unfettered
Hidden in secret places
Pearls
Bidden by balmy caresses
Quicken
Tendrils
Fragile and insistent
Thrust through malleable and mellowed soil
Loosed from rimy chains
Arising reaching knowing
Faith unfolding
