I know my tent is very small
A mere two pounds in weight
It looks a little coffin-like
But still, I think it’s great
It has a little skylight so
That I can see the stars
Last night as I was looking up
I think that I saw Mars
The tent’s a “Mountain Hardware Sprite”
A cheap and cheerful buy
A little awkward to erect
But suits one such as I
Max at 25 years:
My wife and I have bought a tent
A “Coleman Darwin 3”
A spacious tent that’s quick to pitch
And made with PVC
There is a kitchen window with
Its own mosquito net
Outside the bugs are buzzing but
Inside they’re not a threat
The tent comes with two bedrooms
We share a bed in one
My wife’s clothes fill the other room
Her suit case weighs a ton
Max at 29 years:
We bought a “Vango Exodus”
And pitched it by fence
When Lisa, Jane and Alice cry
It is a bit intense
The sides are very sturdy
And zippers seal the door
The sewn-in ground sheet’s ideal when
The kids crawl round the floor
The inner walls can move about
For bedrooms big and small
And when we’re done the tent rolls up
It takes no time at all
Max at 44 years:
My little tent is pitched by theirs
My “Mountain Hardware Sprite”
The girls can’t come inside because
The space is far too tight
I hide from endless chatter
From music played too loud
And sometimes from the onslaught of
That frightening hormone cloud
I’m wrapped up in my sleeping bag
When someone crawls inside
The softness of my darling wife
Her arms around me slide
