He was one of His chosen ones
He walked with Him day by day
His duty, he was the money keeper
In charge of purchases along the way
But one day he heard the whispers
And allowed them to change his life
For a betrayal, he would be rewarded
But the consequences would be rife
His greed caused him to violate
The trust that Jesus had for him
The thirty pieces of silver he received
A pittance. His future became grim
From this violation came our eternal life
As Jesus suffered and died on the cross
It created a way to attain Heaven
For all the sinners deceived and lost
What he did fulfilled a prophecy
That a Savior, for our sins, would die
From a tomb, He would rise again
The curse of death he would defy
For his violation, Judas paid a price
In remorse, he took his own life
From a tree, his dead body hung
His escape from his anguish and strife
If he hadn’t listened to the whispers
Someone else would have done the deed
For it was ordained to one day happen
That a violation had been forever decreed
Now, it is up to each of us
Not to violate God’s redemption plan
It was set in place by Jesus
When He bled and died for mortal man
