Whenever she was having a bad day
There was something she inevitably did
She would take their picture from the wall
And think about her four grandkids
They were the precious apple of her eye
To her, they could never do any wrong
Into her heart, they had instantly crawled
After all, it was where they belonged
If grandkids could ever be an elixir
Hers could always rejuvenate her heart
They were her sunshine on a cloudy day
When they visit, her joy always starts
But it hadn’t always been that way
Her son and his family had moved away
It broke her heart in so many ways
Not being able to see them brought dismay
The only consolation she was offered
Was the time with them on the phone
Otherwise, she had become a recluse
Her broken spirit felt like dry bones
She longed to see her grandkids again
And daily, she took it to the Lord
On her knees, she poured out her heart
Faithfully believing they were in one accord
God listened and He answered her prayers
And now she is no longer alone
With her son’s family, she now lives
Her joyful spirit has replaced her dry bones
