He was standing in a long line
In the distance, he saw a door
He had arrived there that morning
Having no idea what was in store
As the line moved, he saw a man
Hug the next person and cry
Thought it strange the man did so
He couldn’t help but wonder why
Up ahead, he could see the man
Saw the scars on his hands and side
He immediately knew who it was
It was Jesus, the man he had denied
From beyond the door, he heard cries
“Please, God, don’t send me there!”
Then he heard gut-wrenching sobs
Fade away into silence and despair
Now he was standing at the door
Jesus wrapped him in His embrace
He cried and said, “I loved you”
“Now meet the Father, face to face”
Through that door, he meekly went
To face a man on a white throne
Knowing that he would be judged
While standing there afraid and alone
