I shine in dark of night.
Mysterious and beautiful,
I gleam with golden light.
Through me is jewelry refined,
And forged is purity,
While blending metal ores is done
With great facility.
The tastiest of meals result
When I’m inside the grill.
These bring forth long contented sighs
When folks have had their fill.
For those who watch my sprightly dance
The sight is mesmerizing.
They find within my shimmering,
Their hopes and dreams arising.
And yet I’m feared throughout the world
For dangers I possess,
From flicker of a tiny flame
To blazes of distress.
When I have slipped beyond my bonds,
I’m source of devastation,
Destroying all that’s in my path
And causing desolation.
I’m blessed to be the one that serves
As symbol of God’s presence
And carry Holy Spirit’s seal,
Expression of God’s essence.
My name is fire. I'm bright and bold,
And I have much to say.
I snap and crackle, hiss and roar
Until I fade away.
