I have strayed
from Your ancient way
slowly surely unknowingly
Trails of broken promises
misplaced trusts
dishonoured dealings
damaged emotions
all in the name of success
Wasted years
shattered dreams
fruitless search
and vain glories
did I chase
Like the prodigal son
my homecoming
is long
overdue
should have done it earlier
I want to follow
Your ancient way
to find purpose
joy and meaning
in life
Back to the bosom
of the loving Father
who longs for my return
I once was dead
but now alive
Yes I want to gaze at the face
of the Ancient of Days
to find joy in His presence
and real comfort
that only He will give
Giver of Life and Love
sovereign and above
You came and died
to purge my stains
and rose to take Your throne above
Embrace me
with Your divine love
and surround me
with Your shalom peace
a deep expression of relations
