and stabbing pain
piercing my chest bones
from mild
to acute—more and more severe
Lord
it’s Shingles
rashes, blisters
erupted suddenly
will You heal me quickly
Come to my rescue
I implore— I can’t take it anymore
it’s so itchy
and painful
to endure
My prayer
isn’t answered my way
bearing the excruciating
pain and discomfort
weakened body and tired spirit
Job of old
is worse off than
I am- sores all over
bodies and wounds
inflicted by friends’ hurting words
Is this what Paul endures
for the pain in his flesh
in his cry You responded
My grace
for you is sufficient
Lord is that Your word
for my situation
Help me endure patiently
knowing that You’re with me
in this journey of pain and distress
My comfort
comes from Christ
who cried out
My God My God
why have You forsaken Me
Christ too endured
great pain
and suffering
I too can look up to Him
for strength and comfort
Yes, I’ve waited
for two weeks for this torment
to fade away
I still can feel
residual pain and discomfort
One thing
I’ve gleaned
is to wait
and endure
to have hopeful trust
