He is no clown
when He set aside
His heavenly crown
emptying Himself
lived like a human

He humbled Himself
further into a servant
even obedience unto death
that He may save
all who believe

He’s no clown
who casts his crown
at the heavenly throne
to worship the slain Lamb
who once died but now alive

The logic
of a wise fool
does not follow
the ways of the world
but a higher ancient path

Am I willing
to be a wise fool
a fool for the sake
and greater good
of others

I rather be a fool
by giving up
what I cannot keep
or by gaining
what I cannot lose

I rather be a fool
for Christ’s sake
than to be
an intellect
in the world’s eyes

I rather be a clown for Jesus
than to pursue silver or crown
I rather wear the face of a clown
than to gain glory for self
and praises from men’s mouths
