Chloe looked at her friend, Megan. “Uh... what?”
“I’m related to Abraham Lincoln.”
“Really?”
“Yep. We’re like... 32nd cousins five times removed. Or something like that.”
Chloe eyed Megan suspiciously. “Uh... That’s... interesting. And you know this how?”
“It’s this cool new website I found. You put in your name, plus the name of any famous person, and it tells you how you’re related. It’s pretty cool.”
“But... There’s no way that’s accurate.”
“What do you mean? Aren’t we all related somehow? We all descended from Adam and Eve, right?”
“Well, if you want to get technical about it, since God wiped out everyone but Noah and his family in the flood, we’re all related to Noah. But that’s not my point,” Chloe said.
“If we’re all related, how do you know it’s not correct?”
“Fine. I’ll bite. How does it work?”
Megan sighed. “I just told you. It’s easy. You just put in your name... ‘Megan Smith’ and then the name of the person you’re looking up... ‘Abraham Lincoln’ and...”
Chloe put her hand up. “Wait. Stop right there. Don’t you have to put in some other information first? Like your date of birth, or your mother’s maiden name, or.... something?”
“Nope. That’s what makes this site so cool.”
“Uh... I’m going to try to talk some sense into you for a bit here, okay? Do you have any idea how many ‘Megan Smiths’ there are in the country, let alone the world?”
“Maybe all Megan Smiths are related to Abraham Lincoln in the same way. Did you ever think of that? Huh?”
Chloe put her hand to her forehead and shook her head. “No, because it’s ridiculous. And impossible. It probably just picks some random relationship that changes every time you refresh.”
“Or maybe it just knows. Like how the ads on Facebook just know what you’ve been searching on Google. Here. I’ll try it again. ‘Megan Smith’ and ‘Abraham Lincoln.’ See? We’re 45th cousins!”
Chloe stammered. “But... uh... I... Didn’t you just say you were like... 36th cousins four times removed, or something like that, earlier? What website is that, anyway?”
Megan shrugged. “I don’t know. It’s genealogy.org or something.
“Let me see that.”
Megan handed Chloe her phone.
Chloe looked at the phone and stifled giggles. “Uh... Megan?”
“Yeah?”
“This website is jeaneolgoy.org.”
“Yeah. That’s what I said.”
“No. No, Megan. Jeaneolgoy. J-e-a-n. As in the jeans you wear.”
“What? You mean... I’ve been duped?”
Chloe smiled. “Well, if the jeans fit...” Chloe ducked, as a slipper came hurtling her way.

I loved the humor. Now I think I'll duck before the slipper hits me in the face.
