A brilliant blaze of a thousand hues and colours poured from the throne. God looked at His Son with delight. "Now, My Son, -- the firmament." Jesus smiled at the thought.
"Let the stars and galaxies, planets and comets, space clouds and black holes come into being." As the words streamed from the Father's mouth, Jesus stretched His hand across the void and His glory resonated throughout like a grand celestial song. Fiery red dwarfs burst into being. Blazing white giants seared space and dust clouds, spanning a thousand million miles, sang out the glory of God in blended red, yellow, blue and scarlet. Galaxies swirled through the heavens like cosmic catherine wheels. God smiled. "This is good.
It's magnificent, My Son, but You know that we are not confined by space and time. I have in mind something more beautiful than all we have made. It will be infinitesimally small in comparison to the expanse of the universe, but will demonstrate our true nature -- that we care for all we create with equal tenderness and love. Let us make a planet, minute in the firmament, and let us populate it with plants, animals, insects and birds so intricately made that if one could peer into their depths, they would match the glory of the heavens."
As He spoke what was in His mind, Jesus was creating. Earth, rotating round its own sun, so that light and dark flowed rhythmically over its surface, gave birth to seas, land and creatures of every kind. Whales burst from the sea before being swallowed once more into hungry white lips of foam and spray. Fish darted in shoals, and birds overhead called out their sharp songs. Lions, bushbuck, zebra, giraffe, tiny mice and dancing butterflies heralded an earth bursting with life. Once again, God smiled. "This is good.
But it's not all I intended. I have something in mind no angel could ever dream of. This planet will be esteemed above every planet, star or galaxy that we have ever made. We will create a being with whom we can have fellowship -- to walk with and talk with. The love we share through our Holy Spirit will extend to a created being. He will be made in our image, for how else could we have fellowship with him?"
He opened his mouth and proclaimed, "Let there be MAN." Jesus touched the dust... Toes, feet, fingers, hands and arms, legs, a torso and a head and face grew from what He touched. Grasping the man's head in his hands, He blew into his nostrils. The man opened his eyes and sat up. He stood to his feet and surveyed the world before him.
Now God's smile was broad. "This is very good." I am satisfied. This planet is a jewel, within the vast expanse of space and time, which will confound the wise. I have made it to be the centre of the universe -- not because of its position, but by virtue of the importance I have given it. For on this little speck I have made a creature in our image; and by stepping into my creation to be with him I have favoured this earth above all else. "Impossible." the so-called 'clever' ones will say. "It would be like an artist stepping into one of his paintings. It can't be done." Yet I am above all things and I have done it. I love this planet. I have filled it with a blue sea so that man, when he has the means to look at it from outer space will call it ‘The Blue Planet’ and will be in awe of its beauty. They will marvel at the sheer magnificence of their home rotating silently, partially clothed in white, patched with continents, yet distinctly blue.
But its beauty goes deeper. Far deeper. It is the beauty of love -- your love, My Son, showing our love to the pinnacle of our creation. We rescued them. The Cross, ugly in itself, shone with the brightness of our passion for man and radiated from the Blue Planet to the farthest galaxy, resounding with a song of victory. Yes, in My eyes, Earth is the centre of the universe, a blue jewel that pulsates with the love of God.
