On the day her husband died
Did it's part to comfort and to bless
But a wall of ice was forming
Round her raw and broken heart
So she couldn't feel the love and hope expressed
Every thing of beauty
That passed before her eyes
Froze her past into a painful show
Of memories of love
Now crushed like so much ice
Scattered on her frigid life now brought so low
Every word heard spoken
On the day her husband died
Meant to fill her heart with beauty and with grace
But the wall of ice encased her
In a prison of regret
So she hid inside a cold and lonely place
Every prayer they lifted
On the day her husband died
Was the flame that kept the hurting one alive
But it's later when she's thinking
That the world has passed her by
That prayers of warmth will help their friend survive
