God, I have heard your earnest call
To freely surrender all.
The owner of all creation
Wants to claim my little haul?
I will not give it up, I won't!
You own but filth and frustration,
And the stench of stagnation.
If you, your vessel will empty,
You'll find untold elation.
Come, my child, surrender your sin.
My sin, I will give, there's plenty.
I'll admit it was heavy.
Gladly, I'll offer it to you,
Lord, please remove it gently.
I'll yield it to you, but that's all.
Your precious dreams and your plans, too.
Dim near what I plan to do.
Surrender them wholly to me
And wait for my point of view.
Will you trust me with your desires?
God, I have just begun to see,
You are far wiser than me.
I lay out my life before you,
Design my pathway, I plea.
My goals I sacrifice to you.
I also crave an avenue
To design your heart anew.
A place for my Spirit to dwell,
I, with all my heart, pursue.
May I, your God, reside within?
All evil, I at once dispel,
That you may find all is well.
Inside the chamber of my heart,
Each trace of sin, I will quell.
Have I, of evil, missed a hint?
My child, you cannot do my part.
To cleanse, you can scarcely start
When I have accomplished my quest.
I'll living water impart.
If you will simply let me in.
A place to reside in my breast,
You will never need to wrest.
Joyfully, I'll open the door,
For you're a very welcome guest.
Oh come, my God! With me abide.
