Satan,

I am writing to inform you that you have lost. You have lost your position in heaven and your plan to become comparable to the Most High has failed. Furthermore, you have lost your quest to exert your power over my soul and to destroy me. As a direct result of Christ's triumph over you, and your utter defeat - it is well with my soul.

You may think that it's not over yet. It is. Have you forgotten who rules the universe? He is both the beginning and the end of all things. Time has no effect on him. You were as defeated in the days of Adam as you will be after the fulfillment of the revelation of John.

It is he, the ruler of the universe, who watches over my soul. The same one who kept Israel and neither slumbered or slept, but protected her from all harm, is also my guard. He has promised that his eye will be on those who fear him and hope in his mercy.

God has given you a limited measure of power and you have chosen to use it against his people. Have you considered this - even if you do manage to wound me with your darts of confusion or doubt - it would only result in even greater glory to God? You remember Job. When he experienced affliction at your hand, he trusted God. He knew God so well that even when his present circumstances looked incredibly bleak, he continued to trust him. Do you really think you can convince me that God's character has suddenly changed?

I can fully depend on the promises of God. In direct contrast to you, the father of lies, he is truth. He is not just a speaker of the truth - his very character and essence is truth. He cannot lie.

The Great Promiser has stated that he will give his followers eternal life and no one will be able to remove them from his protection. I realize that I am no match for you, but the God I serve is immeasurably greater than you are. Jesus has bought my life with his and he will return very soon. I now belong to him and with Paul I say, "I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day."

In conclusion, while you may have a little strength to fight against me, no onslaught from you can alter the fact that it is well with my soul.
