Gifre Graedig

A man by the name of Gifre Graedig,
The possessor of great liquidity,
Whose besetting vice was cupidity,
Made purchase of a donkey and a pig.
The dastardly donkey commenced to dig
The portly pig reeked of rancidity
And Gifre was filled with lividity.
Through pastures, the donkey and pig, he chased,
(His ire so apparent to his Missus,)
Crying, "My precious money went to waste."
She chortled, "You were in need of fitness."
He began at once his wife to lambaste.
"Oh! You! Go now, and mind your own business."

"Ah! Gif," said she, "Your avariciousness
Has sorely decreased your integrity,
Wholly removed your generosity,
Deeply ensnared in acquisitiveness,
You've exchanged honor for maliciousness.
What's happened to your profuse charity?
Is any trace left of veracity?
I sincerely miss your munificence."
In a sudden state of lucidity
With strong clarity, Gif saw how foolish
Was his self-indulging voracity,
Causing him, his principles to banish.
He fell to his knees with rapidity
And confessed to God in extreme anguish.
