The catwalk an extension of her poise,
Her movement flowing, fluid, and the noise
Of loud applause, explodes upon the ear
While cameras flash, recording her career.
Features and figure, perfect in design,
Captured on media page, and written line
Extol her beauty, revel in her fame,
Whilst advertisers crowd to use her name.
A few short years, she’s gone, legend subsides,
And off the final catwalk then she glides ......
He struts -
With peacock-pride flamboyantly displayed,
An icon of the screen and stage portrayed.
Each part he plays, like a chameleon,
Cover and hide the doubts and fears within.
Yet still he acts, the whole wide world his stage,
The widening illustriousness his wage.
Awards and accolades increase grandeur
Till the true man is lost and found no more.
Then suddenly mortality’s sharp knife cuts,
And off the stage of life, he struts.
She runs -
The fastest, fleetest girl upon the earth
From childhood days, from media-silent birth
She ran, she trained and trained to take the lead,
And swallow up the ground with cheetah-speed.
And the world watched, the unknown became known,
She took her seat on the athletic throne.
Her frequent placing now the podium stand,
While anthem plays, gold medal tight in hand.
The fastest girl, who’d race till life is done,
Till ‘cross that final line, one day she’ll run.
He came -
From highest Heaven’s Glory shining bright,
From purity, from God’s eternal light,
Down to a world blackened by sin dark’s blot,
He came and yet, His own received Him not.
No catwalk, stage or medal-accolade,
He humbly walked the world that He had made.
And dying naked in obscurity
He hung upon the cross for ones like me,
To save my soul from lost, eternal shame,
He loves so much, and that is why He came.
He gives -
Us gifts, some great, some small and slight
To use for Him, to boldly shed His light.
A word, a smile, a kindly giving hand,
An ear ready to listen, a heart to understand.
The opening to share His Gospel true
The chance to serve, His ministry to do,
Not for applause, and recognition’s fame
But simply for the honour of His Name,
To show the world that Christ the Saviour lives,
To humbly walk and use the gifts He gives.
