I sincerely don’t mean to complain,
but this getting older, what a pain!
My shoulder has some-kinda dull ache,
Hiatal-hernia won’t give me a break…
Lord, please comfort me as I explain.
I appreciate these “golden” years,
but my hemorrhoids bout’ have me in tears,
not to mention my double knee pain,
and arthritis that predicts the rain…
Lord, I really need some of Your cheers!
I feel I was young just yesterday,
my mind tells me I’m the same—but nay,
my energy has been siphoned off,
my weakened bladder bids me not cough…
Lord, please send Heavenly hugs my way.
I may have told You this once or twice,
but once again, I need Your advice,
about these daft memory lapses,
and skin that sags, bags and collapses…
Lord, some uplifting would be real nice.
I thought my aging would be a breeze,
rocking chair days—napping when I’d please,
what a joke! I must walk for health’s sake,
and insomnia keeps me awake…
Lord, please—give my senior-bod some ease!
I think this advancing age has flaws,
It’s not like I’d dreamed—things give me pause,
like my hair—that leaves me quite daunted,
thin where needed—grows where unwanted…
Lord, I need comforting—just because.
I’ve long-longed for this retirement,
but—Yes God? An offer You present?
An alternative to my woes? Oh…
Thanks, but “no”—turns out I’m good to go!
Lord, thank You for the encouragement!
