The non condemning loving characteristic of Christ was evident in an interaction that he had with a woman of poor immoral character, as was told by John. In order to bring it down to earth, I have used a family with names.

Josiah was a well known criminal in the town, as was his father Abner.
They lived in a run down hut in the Valley of Woe
Times when they did get work, they failed to please their bosses.
When his sister Jesse was sixteen she was expelled from the girls’ school.
She was constantly in trouble at school, verbally abusive and steeling from others.
She had no friends. Mummy had left them when she was seven, and no one knew where she was.

People in the Woe village all had similar lifestyles.
Drunks, drug addicts, thieves and prostitutes filled the place.
The closest temple was too far away and the nice people there did not intermix with them. In fact they crossed the street when they saw the poorly dressed, smelly ones.

In Woe village, no one was surprised when Jesse became a prostitute.
She worked at the local bar.
“Its such a shame” said someone one day.
“Jesse could have done so much better if she had a loving family”

People talked but no one did anything to help.

The Pharisees all got together, and had a meeting one day about Woe village people
The Pharisees were the religious elite and teachers of the Jewish law. For them and rabbis of the era, marriage was the societal and religious norm
One of local merchants, Joshua said., “I’m so tired of all the stealing and immoral things. Maybe that Healing Man, the Teacher named Jesus, maybe he can help Jesse and those village of Woe people?”
A public groan was heard, but they did think it was worth trying.

A few days later, it was rumoured that Jesus was visiting the temple close by, so Joshua and a few others went to Jesse’s hut and brough her out , paid her and promising her a surprise.
At first, she was resisting but when they paid her, she complied…She didnt know where she was going.
“Where are we going? she asked nervously. ”Why are you taking me away? Papa please stop them.” Her father didnt stop them, he was too drunk to care.
They went to the Temple where Jesus was teaching. They said to him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. Now in the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?”.
As the Word says, Jesus did not condemn her. Instead, He remained calm, He bent down and wrote on the ground. He turned the whole thing around and responded ; “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” {John 8:1-11]

None of them was without sin, so slowly, they all in single file, left the Temple. After all, they were all sinners. Jesus does not condemn any of them, or us.
“Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.” {v10-11}.

I have often wondered why the Pharisees did not also accuse the men with whom Jesse committed these sinful behaviours.

The apostle Paul also speaks of the accomplishment of Jesus’s death…. ‘Paul admits his own sin, but says that through Christ's sacrifice he will not be condemned or sentenced to death for it’. He wrote that “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, [Romans 8:1-3].
Before Jesus came and died, sins were punished according to law.
Praise God that when He sent His Perfect Sinless Son to set us free from the law, He showed us The Way, The Truth and The Life, also His grace and forgiveness.

I would like to think that even Woe Valley families experienced a radical change when Jesse returned home with her life changed, after her interaction with Jesus.
“Go and sin no more!!!” That is quite a command and a blessing too.
