The older Samuels were retired and in their sixties when they found out that they had a
granddaughter who lived in Sarasota, Florida.
Son Timmy had left home as a teenager and disappeared. Despite thelr efforts
and online searches, they couldn’t find him, until news of him leaked out. He was in a Huntsville prison for drugs and gang crimes.
Joshua and Mary travelled to Huntsville to visit him.
“Timmy, where have you been for the past twenty years?”
“I got lost, dad, and now here I am, Timmy Samuel, son of a pastor who fell into sin in hugh ways”. he said in a sad voice.
“Can I do anything to help you, Timmy?”
“Yes, Pop.” he said. “Pray for me and please find my wife and my daughter Mary.”
“You have a daughter and you gave her my name?” said his mother with a smile.
“My little Mary needs both of you”. said Timmy.
“Son, I’ve prayed and prayed for you. Accept Jesus as your Saviour, repent of your sins, and He will be with you. The Name of Jesus is the Name you should remember when you are in trouble, and remember to read the Bible every day.”
Joshua and Mary made frequent visits to see their son, and their relationship healed.
Timmy changed. He was given early release for good behaviour. He moved back to his parents’ home, started going to church, and got a job. His search for his family was productive.
His wife had remarried, and he was allowed to spend time with his daughter Mary.
She was a singer in her school choir and he found great joy in hearing her sing soprano, just like his mother did.
The day Joshua and Mary met their granddaughter Mary, was at a singing event.
“Hi Grandma,” she beamed, “We are both singers, and…. we have the same name!!
What’s your favorite song, Grandma?”
“Well, my favorite song is a hymn. It’s called ‘There is power in the Name of Jesus’.
Maybe we can sing it together one day?” she concluded with a smile of anticipation...
